These clients approached us to help develop their recently purchased property. The brief was to extend the existing house and convert the garage into a new garage and flat.

We began with the garage, but the project quickly grew to include the main house, originally a modest three-bedroom family home. As the design evolved, the clients decided to replace the existing roof, allowing us to introduce a monopitch roof and a more contemporary outline to the house, creating a calmer and simpler architectural expression.

The vision was for a modern home with touches of concrete, timber, and metal, forming a restrained material palette. Drawing on this, we developed a more open floor plan with large sliding doors, higher ceilings, and an expanded veranda to create a greater sense of space and connection to the outdoors.

In the end, the project was fully designed and planning approval was granted. For now, the project has been paused, but we hope to see it built in the future.
